Summary
Aaron’s grandson, Pinchas, put to death 2 people who prayed to idols. Then Pinchas was rewarded by being appointed heir to become the High Priest.
G-d ordered a second census. The 12 tribes were then given portions in the land, but the Levites received none. G-d now commanded Moses to climb Mount Horeb to view the land that he would not enter. The High Priest Eleazar ordained Joshua as Moses’ successor.
